The government of Haiti does not provide free schooling,and most Haitian families are unable to pay tuition and school supplies. At least half of the population cannot read and write. Hindered by illiteracy, many are steeped in superstition and voodoo. By donating funds for the Haiti-Sponsor-A-Child school program, CAM Canada can make a difference for many children in numerous schools throughout Haiti. Supporters’ funds provide a nutritious lunch each school day, as well as school supplies and textbooks, and for the teachers, Bible-based training and subsidized pay.
